Although there are many different ways people in China can get around, most people use public transportation. Since drivers do not follow traffic rules well, driving in China can be a scary experience, making public transport an attractive alternative!
In a city, there are six ways people mainly get around:
1. Metro - Most large cities have a metro, so people can get around very quickly, but Wenzhou does not have one. You may ask, why not? Well, word is that the soil is too soft, so it wouldn’t be very safe to build an underground system.
2. Cars - Traffic is terrible in China because there are simply too many cars ont he road! While driving may not be the fastest option, it is usually the most comfortable. Fun fact: There are 3000 taxi drivers in Wenzhou!!
3. Buses - Every day, I take Bus 52 for one hour in order to reach my place of work. The buses are large with many seats, so sometimes I take a nap during my ride. There is also an app that tracks where the bus is, so I know when to go to the bus stop. That way, I won't be outside, freezing to death, during winter.
