To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Sierra and I am concerned for the future of Mexico City, which is why I am writing this letter to the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources today. Mexico City was once considered the most polluted city in the world by IQAir, and it has made strides to be better. In 2021, it was number 917, showing its commitment to change. To continue improving the air quality, and thus, the lives of residents, we must continue taking action to reduce air pollution.
Aside from implementing government policies, there is a way we can make a difference as a community. By educating citizens through fun and informational campaigns, we can work together to lessen the impact of air pollution. For example, we can create posters convincing people to carpool, take public transit, bike or walk. We could even create QR codes on the posters that link to a mobile game or social media video series talking about how these simple measures can make a large impact. As an added plus, we could create a sweepstakes for citizens who spend a month lowering their emissions. By educating and incentivizing the community, we create engagement and interest, the first steps needed in making a real change.
