Want a specific internship? Submit that application. Want to study abroad? Set up that meeting with an advisor. You never know what might happen unless you try, and growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.
3. Don’t forget the people who helped you along the way.
Stay connected to the people you would not be here without. Some of my favorite moments each week while abroad were FaceTiming my friends and family back home. Not only was it fun to share all the amazing things I was doing, but it was just as meaningful to hear about everything happening in their lives too.
4. Live in the moment.
Some of my favorite moments in Florence were walking to and from class with the sun shining on my face, or laughing with friends at dinner. These are moments I could have easily missed if I had been glued to my phone. While studying abroad and traveling, I have learned so much simply by observing life in different cultures and places around the world. Life is short, so live it well.
5. Don’t take everything so seriously.
Take a deep breath. I promisemit is not always as big as it feels in the moment. Did you get a bad grade on your midterm? That one assignment or test will not define your future. As long as you know deep down that you gave it your best effort, that is what matters most.
