The best meal we had this week was a simple Sunday breakfast that our friend Kyle, the chef from Philadelphia, cooked for us. Kyle sculpted the sausage patties by hand and cooked each of our eggs to order. I like my eggs “over medium,” which means I like them fried on both sides, with a slightly runny yolk. Josh and Brooke like their eggs “over easy,” which means they like the yolk very, very runny. Kyle also picked some apples from Brooke’s apple trees and sliced them for us. Although having eggs, sausage, and fruit is a very common and not-so-special American breakfast, what made this meal so special was the fact that we were all together to enjoy it. Sundays are usually a day of rest in America, which means many people do not go to work on Sunday. This Sunday, none of us went to work.
