I traveled about 300 miles this week. I attended an orientation in Marburg, a university town in western Germany. It took me about four hours and two train rides to get there.
In total, I've traveled over 1,200 miles since I've been in Germany. I've made two trips from Berlin (in eastern Germany) to western German cities. First, I went to Essen and back (about 660 miles round trip), and this week I went to Marburg (about 600 miles, round trip).
I got around by train this week. I took an Intercity Express train to/from Marburg for orientation, and I took public transportation trains to get around Berlin. There are two types of public transportation trains here: the S-bahn (which is above ground) and the U-bahn (underground).
As a part of orientation, we ate dinner in a castle. It's called Marburger Schloss (which translates to Marburg Castle) and it's owned by the University of Marburg.
