What main languages are spoken here?:

The national language of Germany is German, but Berlin (where I live) is very international. It's very common to speak English, Turkish and Russian here, and not uncommon to hear people speaking any other language (Spanish, Italian, Chinese, etc).

What type of money is used here?:

In Germany, they use euros. Germany is part of the European Union, which includes 27 other countries that also use the euro for their buying and spending needs.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

It depends on where you are, but a bottle of water costs between one and two euros. In U.S. dollars, that somewhere between $1.18 and $2.35.

What was the best meal this week?:

I had currywurst this week! It's an iconic Berlin street food made of a fried pork sausage with curry ketchup on top, usually served with brötchen (a bread roll).

What music did I listen to this week?:

I heard a lot of American pop music this week. For example, I heard a group of German school children singing "Hit the Road Jack," and I heard a Macklemore song playing in a restaurant.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I had orientation for Fulbright, the exchange program that brought me to Germany.
