Today is my first day in Barcelona, and it is warmer than I thought it would be! Besides that, it is cloudy and about twenty degrees warmer than Massachusetts.
Barcelona is a bustling city, and the animals I saw could have been from any western city. Dozens of people were out walking their well-behaved dogs. Also, there were pigeons perched on every post. It shows that even a foreign city does not have to be entirely unfamiliar!
While pigeons are not normally referred to as 'cool,' when I looked out the bus window and saw several of them hopping around, I felt at home. You can find pigeons anywhere, all the way from Boston to Barcelona. It made things a little less scary to remember that pigeons are one of the world's constants.
The way different cities deal with the same temperature is an interesting point of comparison As soon as I got off the plane, I was sweating in my light jacket and sweater. At home, I would walk around in this weather with no jacket at all! But, when I look outside, everyone is dressed in heavy parkas and scarves. It looks like I will be sweating to fit in.
