Foggy days are filling up my time in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. I love waking up to crsip autumn mornings with clouds lining the horizon. Usually, by lunch, a light drizzle has started and the air smells like fallen leaves and wet grass. Fall is my favorite season.
I had an opportunity to volunteer at the Pasíčka Eco-center this week which supports wild animals with physical and cognitive impairments from the Pardubice region of the Czech Republic. At the center I saw wild pigs, owls, lynx, ravens, an ostrich, foxes, raccoons and few nutria! We spent most of the the day winterizing the facility by helping the staff move the animals to their indoor shelters and filling the enclosures with wood chips and hay to keep them warm.
I was really happy to be working in close proximity to the nutria at Pasíčka, as well as the Eurasian lynx. I found the nutria to be a tad more friendly, but I suppose that's not too surprising given that the lynx is a solitary feline!
