Das Schmeckt Gut! That Tastes Good!

Introduction:

Climbing up a mountain is hard work! After I hiked for a mile I finally I spotted a place to take a break. It was a restaurant, and I could smell the delicious food they were cooking before I got inside! This restaurant is in Fischbachau, a small village in the southern part of Germany.

The hiking trail led through farmland with wandering cows, bright green leafy trees and darker evergreen trees. I was only halfway up the mountain when I stopped for lunch at the restaurant. Other hikers were also taking a break to eat and everyone's food looked delicious.

Schnitzel, which is a flattened and fried piece of pork with Spätzle, a small, thick noodle, is a popular dish in Germany. Sauerkraut is another well-known German food. Sauerkraut is fermented cabbage, which is cabbage that has been soaked in liquid that makes it taste sour. Germany also has many small bakeries that sell breads, pretzels and cakes. Many people drink carbonated water or mixes of carbonated water and juice. Carbonated water is fizzy, like soda. Apfelschorle is a popular drink in Germany. It is a mixture of fizzy water and apple juice.

What food did I try?:

The food I tried was a typical German meal: sausage with brown sauce, potato salad and bread with butter.
