Das Schmeckt Gut! That Tastes Good!

I finished my meal with a cold cherry crumble cake with whipped cream.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I felt satisfied! The potato salad was tart and complemented the salty brown sauce and hearty sausages well. I tore off pieces of bread and used them to soak up the extra sauce. The warm food warmed me up and I thought about how amazing it was to be sitting on the top of this beautiful mountain enjoying some traditional German cooking.

How is the food prepared?:

The restaurant was a relatively small cabin-like building on the mountainside. I believe there was only one or two cooks in the kitchen. The sausage was either grilled or fried in a pan. The potatoes were boiled and then cut and mixed with dressing to make the potato salad. The bread was probably made by hand at a local bakery and delivered to the restaurant that day. The cake might have been made in the restaurant or at a local bakery.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Most of the food I've eaten in Germany is locally-sourced, which means that the plants have been grown in the nearby area and the animals have been raised in the nearby area, too. The area around this restaurant is mostly farmland, so I think most of the food I ate came from the local farms!
