Currently, students are in school taking their final exams for the fall semester, so I'm mostly traveling to and from school this week. It's about a ten-minute walk, but it can get pretty chilly! Because the air quality is bad, especially in the morning and evening, I wear a pollution mask to and from school.
During this semester, I've traveled from the capital city of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, to western Mongolia. In Western Mongolia, I've driven to lots of places in the Khovd Providence. I've also spent some time in the westernmost providence of Bayan-Ulgii.
Because Khovd is a pretty small town, I walk everywhere. But, if I want to go out of town, I either take a bus or find a ride with someone else that is going out of town.
There was recently a big New Year's party for the English language department at a nearby restaurant, and seeing everyone and everything so decorated with Christmas decorations was wonderful! Many Mongolians buy plastic trees to put in their homes for Christmas, even though they are not Christian.
