I traveled two hours outside of Ulaanbaatar to Hustai Park, and another hour and half to Saraa's Ger Camp.
The farthest I have traveled is to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire about six hours outside of Ulaanbaatar.
I took taxis (which are really just random cars passing by), the local bus, and two large buses, one to Hustai and another to Saraa's Ger Camp.
The most interesting place was a ger - a portable felt tent. Families who are nomadic live in tents and travel around. They welcomed me inside their ger and I got to try some of their homemade, traditional Mongolian food.
My favorite activity so far has been horseback riding! Horses are an important part of Mongolian culture. Taking in the sweeping landscapes atop a horse feels exhilarating and authentic.
