Hot, hot, hot! Have you ever been in a steam sauna? That's what it feels like every day here in Mauritius! The temperature this morning is currently 86 degrees, but the heat index (what it "feels" like) is actually 97 degrees! Temperature is measured in Celsius here, rather than Fahrenheit, so it gets confusing sometimes. The current temperature in Celsius is only 29 degrees.
I saw several crab-eating macaques (monkeys), huge fruit bats, tons of colorful endemic (meaning it's the only place in the world something can be found) birds and lizards/geckos, Giant African snails, an adorable mongoose, a starfish, some deeply camouflaged flounder (fish), and sadly, many stray dogs and cats without homes.
