The main language that is spoken in Germany is German. I really like dogs, so this week my friend Nico taught me how to ask if I may pet someone's dog. You say "Kann ich ihren hund streicheln?" (Can I pet your dog?). Since Berlin is very international, English, Russian and Turkish are also spoken widely.
Germany is part of the European Union (EU). All of the countries that are part of the E.U. use the same money - the euro! I like euros because they are more colorful than the U.S. dollar. Also, being in the E.U. means that people who live in Germany are always welcome to travel to other E.U. countries.
A bottle of water costs 0.25 euro. In the U.S. I could just use a quarter to pay, but with euros, there are not 25 cent coins. Instead, I use a 20 cent coin and a five cent coin. Also, a lot of German people like to drink sparkling water (which is fizzy like soda). This also costs 0.25 euros.
