How far did I travel this week?:

I stayed within Switzerland this week and spent most of my time in the city of Geneva. I live in a small neighborhood called Carouge, which has a lot of Italian influence. I love the city, but I was excited to get out and see the capital of Switzerland, which is Bern. The capital city is right in the middle of the country, but since the country is so small, it is not too far away from Geneva. It took me two hours on a train to reach Bern! A fun fact is that the whole country of Switzerland is about a third of the size of the New York State. You can drive across the whole country in about four hours!

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

Geneva is exactly 4,126 miles from my hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, so I have already come quite far! From Geneva, the city that I visited this week, Bern, is about 100 miles away. That means I have traveled a total of 4,226 miles on my journey so far!

How did I get around this week?:

In Switzerland, you can easily take a train to anywhere in the country. While a lot of people have cars, it is much easier to take trains and they connect to every city, big or small, across the country. The trains are often very clean, are always on time and are not very expensive. There are airports in Geneva and Zurich, but most Swiss people prefer to take trains to get around.
