Filled and Fried

Introduction:

Last week, a few coworkers came to my house to teach me how to make fried spring rolls! It took us over three hours to make 60 spring rolls, but it was definitely worth it! I couldn't manage to eat anything else for the rest of the day!

What food did I try?:

Fried Spring Rolls!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Amazing! They're served hot and are absolutely delicious, especially with a mango fruit shake on the side.

How is the food prepared?:

First, we chop up the vegetables, noodles and meat into little pieces about the size of a pea. Then we throw all of them into a big bowl, dump in some salt and pepper, and then crack a couple of eggs in as well. We roll up our sleeves and use our hands to mix it all together!

After it's all been mixed, we cook the mix in a frying pan. Then we take some of the cooked mix and put it in the middle of a piece of rice paper. We pinch the edges and then roll it up! Ta-da! A spring roll ready to be fried!

We cook them in hot oil until they turn brown and then we eat them as fast as we can!

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Yes! The ingredients are all bought from local families at the market and the spring rolls are usually made with the help of family members.
