It has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, a balcony and a study. My parents live in the same apartment building as I do, on the floor above us. Having my parents live so close is wonderful for me!
Zhu: Right now I also live in an apartment like Caterina’s. I want to talk about where I lived last year, though, because it is more interesting. Last year I lived in a “talent apartment” in the Lujiazui District, which is the main financial area of the city. These are apartments that are like dormitories, specifically for young people working here. My apartment was small, with just one room, a bathroom and a balcony, but it was very affordable for me... only 3000 RMB per month. That is a very low price to pay for rent in the center of Shanghai.
Caterina: I will add that the criteria to apply to live in these apartments is very strict. It is very difficult to live there; you have to be very talented with your work!
Caterina: I am married and have a family. My husband works in marketing.
Zhu: I am married, too! My wife also works at a bank. It is a Chinese bank called the Industrial Bank of China. My family does not live in Shanghai. They live in the province of Sichuan. It is about 2,400 kilometers away from Shanghai. I travel back home to visit them every month.
Caterina: I drive everywhere.
Zhu: I take the metro.
