A Day with Heider

Introduction:

It is very fun and exciting to visit a new country. Ariana loves living in Austria for a few months. Everything feels different and new. But for some people, Austria is just everyday life! For this field note Ariana interviewed her friend Heider. Heider was born in Austria and has lived there his whole life. Let Heider tell you what it's like to be an Austrian!

What is your full name?:

Hello! My full name is Heider Karim.

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

Right now I live in an apartment in Vienna. My apartment has a kitchen and a bathroom. From my window I have a view of St. Stephen's Cathedral. This cathedral is one of the most famous buildings in Vienna. It is very beautiful. 

What is your family like?:

I grew up in Austria with my parents, my brother and my sister. My parents still live in Austria. My sister is married and she lives in Vienna. My brother lives in a country called Switzerland. 

My dad is from Iraq. My mom also grew up in Iraq, but she is actually from Iran. I have a very big family. In Iraq, I have many cousins. I can't even count them all! How many cousins do you have?

How do you get around?:

I use public transportation to get around. I use the bus, subway and trams. I also love to use my bike. I ride my bike as much as I can. Riding my bike is very fun and relaxing.
