English is the main language spoken in England, although words are often spoken with an English accent and some things are called different names than they are in America. Also, England is a very multi-cultural country, so I often hear many different languages and accents being spoken as I walk around.
The pound is the currency of England and all of the U.K.
A bottle of water costs about two pounds, or $2.64 U.S. dollars. Everyday things can be pretty expensive here.
The best meal that I have had so far this week was a chicken dinner that I got on the way back to London from Cornwall. We stopped at a rest stop that had several restaurants. At first, I didn't know which restaurant to choose. I didn't really want American fast food like McDonald's or Burger King, and I had recently had Chinese food. The only other choice was a homestyle chicken restaurant that I had never heard of before. For only 10 pounds I got a chicken plate with a chicken kabob, three chicken strips, a chicken breast, cold slaw, corn and a salad. The chicken was really, really good, and I was full and happy afterward.
