What main languages are spoken here?:

There are three main languages spoken in Israel, each with a different alphabet. The languages are Hebrew, Arabic, and English. In Rehovot, where I live, the main language is Hebrew. However, throughout Israel students learn English from a very young age, and that is why I am here to teach it! My students start learning English in the second grade and continue throughout high school. Students also have the option to learn Arabic when they are in middle school (around your age!). Many of the road signs are in all three languages. It is also very easy for me to get around speaking English. I took three months of Hebrew classes, but the different alphabet was a bit tricky for me! I am still trying, and I learn more Hebrew from my students every day!

What type of money is used here?:

The Israeli New Shekel, known as the shekel, is the currency (type of money) used in Israel. The Israeli currency system has a lot more coins than the United States does. For example, there is a 10 shekel coin that is worth about $2.70.  Each American dollar is worth about 3.71 shekels at the moment. The paper money here starts at 20 shekels and in my opinion, it is beautiful. The bills are colorful and vibrant. The 20 shekel bill is red, the 50 shekel bill is green, the 100 shekel bill is orange/gold and the 200 shekel bill is blue.
