For every 1€ I spend, I pay $1.13.

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal I had this week was pulpo, which means octopus. Baby octopi are a common tapa in Spain. Tapas are little dishes like appetizers, and normally you share 3 or 4 for a dinner with friends. It is very common to have seafood (mariscos) in your tapas because Spain is a coastal country. Therefore, catching the seafood is very easy.

What music did I listen to this week?:

This week I listened to flamenco music. Flamenco music and dance are very passionate. Normally, the only instruments used are a flamenco guitar and castanets. Castanets are concave wooden shells that click together to produce sound. The loudest sound actually comes from the clapping and foot stomping of the dancers. Also, the singers often look like they are in pain. This is because they are trying to express very passionate emotions through the song, not because the singing itself hurts them.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

A fun activity I did this week was called an intercambio (this is the Spanish word for exchange). An intercambio is where I get coffee with someone from Spain and for half the time we speak in English and the other half we speak in Spanish. This way we both get to practice our language skills. The person I met had a lot of questions about America. My favorites were "How much does it snow there?" and "You get to pick your president?" It showed me how different things really are here.

What did I read this week?:
