I was actually really happy to have had that time, otherwise I might have missed my next flight. At it was, I made it with just 30 minutes to spare. Once I was in my seat for my second flight, I felt very happy and excited because I knew the next stop was Italy and the starting point of the expedition! I could wait to see the JOIDES Resolution and climb aboard.
I grew up in Brasil until I was 18 and have family in the U.S., so I have been flying since I was a child. In those years, I have noticed that flying has its own culture and everyone has a routine. You always have music and a book to keep you entertained while you wait for a flight. You can grab food if your wait is a little long because some people don't like the food of airplanes.
Larkin has been a sailor for many years and has traveled the world for different jobs on ships. Her favorite place is the airport because it reminds her that she is on an adventure. The second she hears the click of the seatbelt locking, she knows a new experience and new friends are coming soon!
Airports in different countries all have similar systems, but the way they are built, decorated, identified, and established are rooted in their countries' societies and cultures. The restaurants will provide food more similar to the country's cuisine, and there are always electronics, gifts, toys, and clothing stores that reflect each culture. There is almost always a book store in an airport, and that is the one store I depend on. I enjoy seeing the types of books that are on the popular shelf.
