Hello, everyone!  My name is Tyler, and I'm excited to share my journey to Taiwan with you.

I began learning Mandarin Chinese when I was ten years old. When I was in fourth grade, my elementary school decided to start teaching Mandarin to students. The school thought it might help students become interested in learning other languages. I thought the language was very interesting and decided to keep learning Mandarin! I took Mandarin classes for ten years until I went to college. I even got to visit China while I was in high school. Learning Mandarin has been a very important part of my life. I always loved school, and because of that, when I came to college, I started learning how to become an elementary school teacher!

During college, I found out about the Fulbright program. This program sends American teachers to countries all over the world to help teach English. Because I have been learning Mandarin and wanted to become a teacher, this program sounded like the perfect fit for me. My dream was to travel to Taiwan because the people there speak Mandarin, it was a new and exciting country to me, and I would be able to teach English there. I applied for the program, and after waiting for a long time, I found out that I was accepted into the program!
