Bulgarian High School Through Dara's Eyes

When she is busy, I do the chores, and when I am busy, she does it.

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mom is a psychologist and my dad is a manager in a company. Both of my parents work in Vidin and my mom actually works at a school.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 8:00 a.m. every day, but I go home at different times throughout the week. Monday through Thursday I have seven classes, so I go home at 2:30 p.m. But on Friday I only have six classes, so I go home at 1:35 p.m.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

My parents almost always drive me to school. I do have to walk to school on Mondays, and I am allowed to go by myself. My walk only takes about fifteen minutes.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch at home when I get home from school around 2:45 p.m. Sometimes I skip eating lunch because I have piano lessons and I don't have time to eat. I always eat dinner though! My favorite types of food are seafood and Chinese. My favorite seafood is shrimp, and I like all types of Chinese food.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

In school, students speak Bulgarian, English, German and French. We all have to take English and Bulgarian classes, but we can choose to take German or French. I decided to take German. To say "hello" in Bulgarian, it is "Здравейте" (zdrah-vey-teh) or "здравей" (zdrah-vey). The first form is formal and the second is informal. To say "hello" in German, it is "hallo" (hal-o).
