It was quite the experience!
Then, in January, I had a friend reach out to me and told me that Phillip Glass (a well-known modern composer) was going to be performing in Paris with the Paris Philharmonic! We had to go. We bought our tickets, only $10 for students, and we booked our train tickets. We had amazing seats and were able to see the pianist and the 8 cellos playing the Phillip Glass piece! It was so cool that I could enjoy live classical music in these cities that are so well known for composers and musicians that I learned about for so long.
Even when I’m not performing, I have found that people love ot connect around music. I have been able to just play my viola for my aunt in Grenoble, who is battling brain cancer, and she says it brings her such joy. I love to play to bring joy and to bring people together. We really can use that in the world right now. Music is a universal language that, no matter if you use the words Do, Re, Mi, or A, B, C for notes, you can still communicate and understand each other
