This curiosity has helped me to learn so much about my new community.
3.Adapt. Maybe the most important lesson I have learned in Brazil is that it is important to adapt your way of thinking and behaving when you get stuck. For instance, when taking the bus in America, I was used to having the driver announce stops, but that wasn't the case in Belo Horizonte. Instead, here I had to learn to ask strangers to help me find my stop. My new-found adaptability came in extra-handy later on when we were told we had to stay at home to social distance during the COVID-19 pandemic, and I had to start doing my research through video conferences. Being open to changing my plans has helped me to enjoy Brazil and the work I am doing here.
I hope you get the chance to travel and experience new environments. I think traveling has made me a better person, and I am so grateful to have this opportunity.
