There was a huge castle there, but the tickets and timing of tours were both expensive and hard to navigate with our planned hiking schedule, so we just stuck to the trails. At first, we followed one trail up a mountain but quickly realized that it wasn’t safe with all the mud, so we rerouted to a different trail that faced the right direction. Our ultimate goal was to visit a cool quarry, a giant hole with a river running through it! It's called Big America, based on the Grand Canyon. It took almost five hours and ten miles of walking, but we were able to make it there and back to the town with spirits intact. The canyon was cool, but the journey was really the best part. We stopped off for lunch before getting started and made two ice cream trips along the way, both of which did not disappoint. And, to top it off, the weather was beautiful! Both of my hiking trips were really fun, but the sunshine definitely made up for the freeze my previous day.
So, if you ever find yourself in the Czech Republic, go on a hike! There are so many more trails in Bohemian Switzerland to be explored and little towns nearby to see. I'm hoping to meet you all there!
