My name is Sandra Mulsow. I’m a volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador. I am lucky to live in Quito, the capital city. I will live here for one year. All of my family is back home in Texas: my husband, my grown-up children, my grandchildren, and my little dog, Ladybird. I miss them all very much, but it is also exciting to live in a different country and see new things.

Before I joined the Peace Corps, I was a history teacher in a rural Texas town called Wilson. My school is tiny, so I taught ALL the Social Studies classes – World Geography, World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics. I even taught dual-credit U.S. History and Digital Arts. I love history, learning about different cultures, and looking at maps. Being a teacher is a busy job, but so much fun. I have known some of my students since they were in 6th grade! Some of my favorite things about school were Friday night football games (Wilson is a 1A school, so we play 6-man football), basketball games, decorating the hallways for different events, Homecoming Week, helping with the concession stand, helping my junior class plan the school prom, and helping with the graduation ceremony. Do any of these things sound familiar to you? Enjoy it while you can.

I grew up in the West Texas town of Lubbock, Texas.
