Día de Los Muertos en México

Instead of mourning death on this holiday, it is meant to celebrate their lives and bring back happy memories. To celebrate, families often go to cemeteries, decorate their loved ones' graves and bring their favorite foods. At home, families also often make altars to dedicate to the family members they have lost. On the altars, families put pictures of their loved ones that have passed on, along with their favorite foods, some favorite objects, candles and marigold flowers.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

This tradition is connected to its environment through typical foods (pib), along with the typical decorations (marigold flowers). It is deeply important for families to decorate with the marigold flowers because they believe that these flowers guide their loved ones' home. Pib is also extremely important in this region because it's connected to Mayan culture and cooked underground in a similar manner to cochinita.
