A Week in Kibbutz Ktura

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

During my time in Israel, I traveled to cities such as Eilat, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem. I also visited Timna Park, a national park in the Arava Valley about twenty minutes by car from Kibbutz Ktura, filled with historical copper mines. While going from city to city by bus, I had also seen from afar other kibbutzim in the region and farther north.

How did I get around this week?:

If I wanted to go to places outside of the kibbutz, I almost always took the buses that ran in the area. If I was going out to explore the local environment with a group, I would put on my hiking boots and make sure my water bottle was filled up to the brim.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

Timna Park was definitely very interesting! It reminded me how old the world is and how much history regions can have. The reddish mountains were a beautiful sight to see, and gazing down ancient copper mine shafts and wondering how it was like to mine centuries ago was definitely a fun experience.

Other Travel News from this week:

We had to be very conscious of what the time was when we went out to take the bus to Eilat. Our first time going there, we went Friday morning, and we had to be 100% sure we knew the bus timetables well. This was due to the fact that once Shabbat starts at Friday sundown, there is no public transportation in Israel. Since some of us were not used to this custom, it was a little stressful at first, but we grew used to it and planned our trips before Shabbat would start.
