Temples In Taiwan

A lot of legends were told about him, including a famous story about how he helped save a black tiger (Hēihǔ 黑虎) from choking using traditional medicine and Hēihǔ 黑虎 became his faithful companion!

Today Wu Ben is known as Bǎoshēng Dàdì 保生大帝, the god of traditional Chinese medicine, and people have visited his temple in Taipei for almost 300 years now. It is not just Bao An Gong 保安宮 that has such a long and colorful history; you'll notice that many other temples around Taiwan are really beautiful and have a long history, with many having been built during the Qing Dynasty.

You can also admire the beautiful designs on these buildings, which usually include creatures from Chinese mythology like the phoenix and dragon but also the turtle and qilin. Come walk through the beautiful gardens and see the stone carvings for yourself when you get the chance!
