The food here is definitely heavily influenced by the geography of the country. Depending on where you are in Costa Rica the cuisine can look completely different. In the east parts of Costa Rica such as Limon, more spice is included into the food due to the Caribbean influence. For example, the Jamaican classic “Patty” is also served in Limon with slight variation. If you are anywhere near the coast you will also see a lot more dishes incorporating seafood. I've also noticed that there is a huge availability of all fruits and veggies wherever you might be in Costa Rica, for in the city of San Jose traveling to Manuel Antonio on the side of the streets you can always get your hands on some fresh produce.
My personal favorite place to eat food in Costa Rica has to be my host family's house. I just know that every single food she makes has been made with so much love and care.
