Have you always wanted to work as a wetland scientist? Can you tell us about your journey to this career path?
Growing up, I thought of becoming a wildlife biologist, veterinarian or professional athlete, and some components of each of those careers are incorporated into my job daily. I'd say I ended up close to what my five-year-old self would have aspired to be! As a kid, I spent a lot of time wandering around collecting plants and bugs and telling everyone I came across about them. My college advisor/mentor worked as a wetland scientist, and I definitely shaped my career goals around how he described the parts of his career that he did (and didn't) like, and ultimately I chose to pursue a field of study at which I was instinctively good.
