When starting my Ghana experience, I was confident that it would be an amazing time because of the cohort of people with whom I would share time. Ghana has been an amazing experience that has taught me a lot about a long-lost culture to which I have a connection. I have made over 40 friends, and I made family aunties and uncles that are not blood-related but showed me the way. I came into this program with other CSU and UC students from California who I'm sure were as positively impacted as I was.

This will not be my last time in Ghana, but only my first. My favorite Ghanaian meals are Red Red, Kelewele (fried plantain) and Fufu with fish stew. I love them so much that before I returned to California, I found the seasonings to re-create these meals back home. I strengthened my skills in bargaining, riding public transportation via the Trotro and growing to be more independent.

My best moments abroad were times when I visited waterfalls. Waterfall hunting was my favorite extracurricular activity. My most significant trip while abroad has to be diving deep into the history of the transatlantic slave trade while visiting a 456 slave castle.
