Our News

What music did I listen to this week?:

I have been going back to listening to music in English because now I am speaking Russian so frequently. It helps remind me of home since almost nobody here is American.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I walked all through downtown Moscow only to end up at an amazing bakery where I found chocolate cake, cream tubes (Russian Twinkies), and much more. It was a worthwhile walk even if I counteracted it by eating some cake!

What did I read this week?:

I have been reading almost all my stories, online posts and news in Russian to help practice. I am going to the largest bookstore in Moscow this week to pick out a book entirely in Russian for me to read while I am here.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I tought Russians how to play Gin Rummy, which is a card game. Explaining to them how to play a card game that I had to remember how to play myself while talking entirely in Russian was a challenge, but I managed.

Other news from this week:

I have been collecting kopeks, which, if you remember, are basically the Russian version of a penny. They are very hard to find since they are basically worthless, but if I see any on the ground, I pick them up. So far I have a ten kopek and a 50 kopek.
