The End of the Expedition

This can make you sick to your stomach, just like sea sickness. It felt weird to walk on land again! For me, I kept feeling like the floor was going to fall out from under me when I stood up. When I turned my head quickly to look another way, I also felt dizzy. My stomach also felt a little bit upset, but I didn’t throw up like I did when I got seasick. Land sickness lasted about a week for me, until my body realized I was firmly back on solid ground. It was weird!

I spent four days in Reykjavík, the capital city of Iceland, before returning home to the United States. I hope you enjoyed learning about this scientific expedition and that you feel inspired to learn more about the planet we call home.
