Overall, the theater (or theatre, as they spell it in England!) experience in London is quite similar to a show in the U.S.
Buying tickets is the same process, with box office and rush options available day-of for purchase. We typically use the app Todaytix to see what seats are open for a specific day, as prices usually increase the closer the performance date is to the day we are buying them. As mentioned in our Video Call last week, though, the average cost for a show is much less compared to back in the U.S. One aspect that further helped prices was London Theatre Week: contrary to its name, the event ran for just under a month, from August 17 to September 13. It was an industry-wide discount on West End and Off-West End productions, with tickets offered at £15, £25, and £35.
The theatres themselves are also similarly located near each other, as they are in New York on Broadway. Nicknamed "Theatreland," the neighborhood is a vibrant combination of restaurants and stores mixed among the various theatres. Chinatown is also close by, thus even further increasing the options for dining! As such, it is a common routine to grab dinner nearby before or after a performance.
