On the recommendation of a friend, I decided to visit the University of Bristol’s Botanic Garden! Located in the Clifton area of the city, the garden is a place for education and the preservation of nature in Bristol. It has a lot of plants from England and all over the world, and students from the university can volunteer to learn and support the project. I took the bus to the botanical garden early in the morning and walked around on a self-guided tour.
This is an Akashigata or Lavender Pink Peony from Japan. In the garden, there is a section dedicated to plants from other countries, and I found the section for Asia! This plant is known for its light pink color, with long petals that stretch out in a wide halo around the yellow center of the flower.
It made me happy to see such a large flower! After the rain and cloudy weather that Bristol experienced over the past couple of months, it was great to see flowers blooming so large. I am not the best gardener — I don’t have a “green thumb” — so I appreciate all of the work that goes into keeping plants alive and vibrant.
