During my first semester in Germany, my dorm had created an event to go to Oktoberfest. It was my 2nd week in Germany and I wanted to try some new things. It was also my birthday the day we went which made it even more special.
I learned about Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest is this huge festival that happens in Munich, Germany every year. Oktoberfest is the largest beer and fair event in the world. The festival begins in mid-September and ends in early October. The attendees often wear traditional clothing known as Lederhosen, leather breeches for men and Dirndls, dresses, for women. Oktoberfest has huge tents that can host thousands of people coming together to enjoy beer. The atmosphere is very fun and includes a lot of music and dancing. There are musicians who play traditional Bavarian brass known as Volksmusic. I remember when the brass musicians started to play and everyone stood on their chairs and danced. After visiting the tents we went to the funfair section and had fun riding rides and playing carnival games.
