I can’t believe we made it through the winter together and are already deep into April. Has time been flying for you too? It’s crazy to think that our time together is coming to an end. As I near the end of my journey in Mongolia and sharing this beautiful country with you, I hope you’ve also been reflecting on what you’ve learned along the way.
My time in Mongolia has been full of “never have I ever” moments: being a full-time English teacher like my mom once was, spending the winter in one of the coldest places on earth, riding a yak and even trying horse meat. But more than anything, what I’ve done here is build lasting memories and meaningful relationships that I’ll carry with me forever. From traveling across the steppe, lakes and sand dunes, to hiking mountains, visiting ancient monasteries and museums and trying new foods, this has truly been an unforgettable adventure, one I’ll always look back on with so much gratitude.
I already hope to return one day, especially in July for Naadam, the traditional festival with wrestling, horse racing and archery. I’m sad I’ll miss it this time since I leave in June, but it just gives me a reason to come back.
