There were many events throughout the year in Bahrain, especially when the weather was cooler. Out of the events I attended, my favorites were هوى المنامة (pronounced: Hawa al-Manama) and Muharraq Nights.
Hawa al-Manama was a retro-themed festival in Manama Souq. There were stalls selling shawarma, pizza, ice cream and more. There were also activities and exhibits around the souq (open-air marketplace). My favorite part was a haunted house that was based on Bahraini folklore. It was really scary, and I learned about Bahraini stories. A lot of these stories are passed down orally, so it was a unique way to share these stories with a wider audience. There was also a retro car show, which I enjoyed. There was a mix of American cars and cars that were popular in Bahrain. Muharraq Nights was a similar festival in Muharraq, Bahrain. There were lots of different foods to try, which was my favorite part of the event. There was also music, dancing and art displays.
My favorite part about events in Bahrain was seeing the variety of people who live there. More than half of the people in Bahrain are immigrants, so you can see lots of different outfits and hear lots of languages when you walk around festivals.
