안녕하세요 여러분! (Hello everyone)! In the short two and a half weeks I’ve been in South Korea, I have tried many different kinds of foods. From a traditional temple meal to western dishes, I have explored the old, new and international parts of Seoul. You might have an idea of what you think Korean food is. But let me tell you, there are many inclusive and dietary-restrictions-friendly places where you can enjoy Korean food with no worries!
Traditional Korean food:
I focused on trying foods that are very common and specific to Korea. I tried 비빔밥 (bibimbap), which is a bowl of rice and vegetables with sauces mixed together. I also had 떡볶이 (tteokbokki) which is chewy rice cakes coated in a spicy sauce with vegan fish cakes. I got them with 김밥 (kimbap), a roll of seaweed with rice, vegetables, and fried tofu. This is a famous combination to order. Another meal that was very special to me was at a traditional temple food restaurant. Here they served many small dishes called 반찬 (banchan), such as rice porridge, kimchi pancakes, squash, mushrooms with soy sauce, peanuts, kimchi, cooked spinach, lettuce with dressing, soybean soup and japchae noodles (stir fry sweet potato noodles).
