Hi everyone!! This week I have been thinking about my future in theatre, and how excited I am to start working in the live performance industry. As a director, I interact with so many other professions all the time, so I thought I would tell you guys about all the people it takes to work on one production! First off, there are the actors who are the face of the performance and who the audience remember the most. As you know, actors memorize a lot of things, such as, dialogue, monologues, dances and blocking (how and where you move across the stage). Actors have a hard job because they have to audition for all kinds of directors and companies and hope that the show is right for them to be a part of. It’s hard to stand in front of a person who can decide if they want to work with you or not. But when you're an actor it's important to remember that YOU are amazing, and sometimes it is the wrong production. But never give up! You will get a role that is so much fun and you get to make friends with the other actors too. Actors typically have a lot of perseverance--really everyone in the theater industry does. Next up is the director, and this is my favorite role. The director has a vision for the production and leads the whole cast and crew.
