What is your name? Ana Dixon
What is your hometown? Pewaukee, Wisconsin
Where do you work? Zoological Society of Milwaukee (ZSM)
What is your job title? Programs Operations Manager
Have you always wanted to work at a zoo in programs and education? Can you tell us about your journey to this career path?
I actually started volunteering with ZSM in high school, and I had such a positive experience. It sparked a love of nature and animals as a teen, but for some reason it never occurred to me that informal education/conservation education was a career path! So, when I went to college, I was first interested in direct animal-based careers. I thought about being a vet, then a field researcher and then a zookeeper. I did an internship after my freshman year of college in Animal Care at Ocean Connections with pinnipeds.
