Hello and bienvenue (welcome) to France! My name is Olivia, and I have been living in the town of Béziers, France since September. I have absolutely loved soaking up the sun and the culture here and am thrilled now to be able to share this place with you! I love the sunshine that I get to enjoy almost every day of the week, here, and I love being able to go on beach runs. Whenever I tell people that I am living in “Béziers” they often give me a confused look and an “Oh…where’s that?” I tell them that Béziers is a French city of about 70,000 people close to the more well-known city of Montpellier. Béziers is a 20-minute drive to the Mediterranean Sea and a two hour drive from the Spanish border. A few years ago, Roman artifacts were found in Béziers (dating from the 6th century BC!) proving that Béziers is the oldest town in France and one of the oldest towns in Europe!
Now, how did I end up here? Well, as a matter of fact, I didn’t start off with a very different life to the one you all are living now. I grew up in the medium-sized city of Temple, Texas.
