こんにちは ! Hello everyone! You may already know that konnichiwa (pronounced kon-nee-chee-wah) is hello in Japanese.
My name is Raimel, and I'm currently studying in Japan. What comes to mind when you hear the word Japan? Sushi? Anime? Temples? World War II? Throughout our lives, we learn to associate a place with specific ideas and concepts that create a picture that differentiates that place from others, but places are much more than simple references. Every place on earth represents an intricacy of elements that makes them not only unique but also culturally rich. Japan is more than just sushi or anime, the same way that the United States is much more than burgers and Hollywood movies. I'm very new to Japan too, so I want to take this opportunity to explore the nuances that make Japanese culture so interesting and unique together with you.
I live in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. With a population of approximately 9.3 million people, Tokyo is the product of a mixture between the modern and the traditional. From heavily illuminated streets and skyscrapers to small shops and temples, Tokyo is the host of a fast-paced, vibrant atmosphere. One of my favorite aspects of Tokyo is the large selection of restaurants, which offer both Japanese and international cuisines.
