Toxic emissions have caused acid rain in the Czech Republic in the past and have destroyed a lot of forested areas in the northern part of the country. That, on top of what some would consider aggressive logging, has left the natural envirnoment of the Czech Republic in need of protection and repair.
The Czech Republic is surrounded by low-lying mountains, which creates a natural border between it and other countries, especially Germany and Poland. The environment is also conducive to food production and growing crops like sugar beets, corn and hops.
The Czech Republic is fairly well-suited for agriculture, with a lot of lowlands and not too many mountains. A lot of the land in the time of historical Moravia, a country that preceeded the Czech Republic by many centuries, was steppes and grasslands. Today, a majority of the land has been cultivated for farming and ranching.
