A few days ago, I officially marked a month of living in Europe. For many people, including myself, moving to Europe was a fantasy. When I was younger, I would daydream of one day being able to visit easily the most famous landmarks of the world - the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, St.Peter's Square. I did not expect that I would be fulfilling this ambition while based in the small country of Belgium.
Sometimes, my friends from home will ask me, "So, how is it like to be living in Germany?" or "How's Brussels?" I will have to clarify that, no Belgium is not a city in southern Germany, and no, Brussels is not the country that I am residing in (or the city for that matter). However much I may smile at some of my friends' questions, I also get it! Belgium is a very quaint country, that I assume most people on a Europe-trip go straight through on their way from Paris to Amsterdam. And to be honest, when I first arrived in Belgium, I almost felt like I had missed out by not choosing to live in France or Germany. But as the weeks wear on, I see that Belgium was always truly the place for me.
Language is a huge factor in making me feel so comfortable in Belgium. When I first moved to Europe, I actually arrived in Paris.
