Здравствуйте! Hello! My name is Logan and I am so excited to share my journey in Kazakhstan with all of you. Together, we will watch this adventure unfold (and hopefully learn about Kazakh culture and society, too). First, I will tell you a little about myself and how I ended up in the city of apples, Almaty, Kazakhstan.
I grew up in Culver City, California. Living in Los Angeles, I was no stranger to diversity. I had friends and classmates from different backgrounds, and our school and community encouraged sharing cultures. From the start, I was captivated by other cultures.
My whole life, I dreamed of exploring the world. When I was a toddler, my favorite toy was my backpack and my favorite game was "adventure." First, I would pack my little backpack with the necessary toys and snacks. I walked in circles around my house and backyard, pretending every step took me to a different country. I spent hours exploring my home, hoping one day I would pack a bigger bag and set off to explore the world.
I attended a language immersion elementary school, where I learned most subjects in Spanish and was exposed to Latin American customs and traditions.
