Differences in Culture

One example is that when I am at the orphanage, I wear clothes that cover my elbows and ankles even if it 90 degrees outside because that is how women dress in rural India. Coming from the United States where I would wear a more comfortable skirt or dress during that weather in a professional setting, it can be easy to think that this expectation is too conservative.  It is important, however, for me to realize that I am a guest in India and I'm not here to force my American ways on the locals here. It is all about recognizing that different perspectives are just as important as mine.
